Heala vs Garmin Connect
Garmin Connect exists to show you what your Garmin recorded, and it does that thoroughly. This page is about the parts of the picture a watch does not capture.
- Deep endurance metrics
- Training status and load
- Routes, courses, navigation
- Sleep and body battery
- Reads the same workouts
- Food logging and macros
- Strength programming
- Body composition in 3D
- One coach across all of it
Where Garmin is unbeatable
Endurance depth. VO2 max estimates, training effect, lactate-threshold guesses, race predictors, multi-sport tracking — this is decades of sports-science work and no phone app replicates it.
The hardware. GPS accuracy, battery life measured in weeks, and navigation on the wrist.
If you are a serious runner, cyclist or triathlete, Garmin Connect is not something to replace.
What it leaves out
Food. Garmin does not log meals in any serious way, and nutrition is the single largest lever on body composition.
Strength programming. Workouts can be recorded, but a progressive lifting plan that reads what you actually lifted is not what the platform is for.
Body composition, unless you own their scale — and even then it is bioimpedance, with all the caveats that carries.
The sensible setup
Keep the watch and Garmin Connect for what the watch measures. Let Heala read it through Apple Health or Health Connect, and use it for food, lifting, recovery in context and the body scan.
Questions
Does Garmin data sync to Heala?
Yes, via Apple Health or Health Connect — workouts, heart rate, steps and sleep.
Will Heala replace Garmin Connect?
Not for endurance analytics or anything watch-specific. It replaces the food app and the lifting app you use alongside it.
The quiz is free, takes about four minutes and needs no card. It ends with your calorie target, your macros and a training week you can look at.
