What happens to your data
Health data is the most sensitive category most people generate. Here is what Heala holds, what it does not, and what you can do about it.
- No ads, no ad networks
- No selling data to anyone
- No public profile by default
- No reading your list back with the app key
- Export everything
- Delete your account entirely
- Share location only with friends
- Turn any of it off
Where it lives
Your data sits in your own account with row-level security, which means the database itself refuses reads from anyone who is not you. It is not a filter in the app that could be bypassed by inspecting the network traffic.
The AI keys live server-side, not in the app, so the app cannot be decompiled into somebody else’s free API access.
What leaves the device
What you log, to your own account. Photos you send for a food or body scan, processed and stored against your account.
Location, only if you turn on the friend map, only to friends you accepted, and deleted automatically after 24 hours.
There are no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics networks in the app.
What you can do about it
Export. Take your data out at any time.
Delete. Delete your account and it goes, including scans and location history. There is a page for this rather than a support email you have to chase.
Granular permissions. Health data is per type. Location is off until you turn it on. The body scan is opt-in per scan.
The AI part specifically
The coach reads your account to answer with context. Your data is not used to train models, and AI features are behind an explicit consent gate rather than switched on quietly.
Questions
Does Heala sell my data?
No. There is no advertising model and no data sale.
Can I delete everything?
Yes — account deletion removes your data including body scans and location history, and there is a dedicated page for it.
Is my body scan private?
Photos and the generated body are stored privately against your account, and you can delete them.
Is my data used to train AI?
No.
The quiz is free, takes about four minutes and needs no card. It ends with your calorie target, your macros and a training week you can look at.
