Heala vs Lose It!
Lose It! does one thing well: a daily calorie budget you can actually stick to. This page is about what happens when the budget alone stops working.
- A daily calorie budget
- Barcode scanning
- Simple by design
- The same budget
- Logging by sentence or photo
- Training and sleep beside it
- Body composition over time
What Lose It! gets right
Simplicity. A number to stay under, a barcode scanner, and very little else in the way. For a lot of people that is the entire job.
Onboarding. It is quick to set up and quick to understand, which is more than can be said for most of this category.
Where a budget runs out
A calorie budget does not know why the scale stalled. Under-eating protein, sleeping badly, training less than you think and water retention all look identical from inside a food diary.
Heala keeps the budget and puts the other four things next to it, so a stall has an explanation rather than a shrug.

Questions
Is Heala harder to use?
The food logging is deliberately faster — a sentence, a photo or a barcode. There is more in the app, but the daily loop is smaller.
Can I just use it as a calorie counter?
Yes. Nothing forces you into the training or body features, and the free plan covers food logging uncapped.
The quiz is free, takes about four minutes and needs no card. It ends with your calorie target, your macros and a training week you can look at.
