Heala vs Bevel
Bevel is a recovery and sleep app built around what your wearable measures. Heala reads those same signals — and the training and eating that caused them.
The short version
Recovery scores are downstream of behaviour. Sleep, load and nutrition produce them, and an app that reads the score without holding the behaviour can tell you that you are tired but not why.
Bevel is $99.99 a year on the US App Store, checked in August 2026, and recovery is what it does. Heala is $79.99 and recovery is one of eight domains.
Neither of us needs you to buy hardware
Heala works phone-only: sleep from the hours you log, effort from the RPE you enter, activity from your phone’s step count.
A watch or a ring sharpens it — deep and REM sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, breathing rate, live heart rate in zones — through Apple Health or Health Connect. Nothing is locked behind owning one.

Questions
Which wearables work?
Anything that writes to Apple Health or Health Connect — Apple Watch, Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, Fitbit, Withings. Heala reads the health store rather than integrating with each vendor directly.
Is the recovery score medical?
No. It is a training signal built from sleep, load, nutrition and, where available, HRV and resting heart rate. It is not a diagnosis and Heala is not a medical device.
The quiz is free, takes about four minutes and needs no card. It ends with your calorie target, your macros and a training week you can look at.
