Heala vs the alternatives · 3 min read

A Strong app alternative that also logs your food and reads your recovery

A Strong alternative is an app that logs your sets as quickly and also writes the next week from them. Heala logs sets by tapping or saying them, logs food by photo, barcode, voice or saved food, and reads sleep and recovery beside your lifts.

Why do lifters look for a Strong alternative?

Usually the log is fine and the gap is what happens after it. Strong records sets quickly and keeps your history. It does not tell you what to lift next week, and it does not know that your squat stalled in a week of short nights and a hard deficit.

Recording and programming are different jobs, and most lifters end up wanting both. The wider case for holding food, training and sleep in one account is in one app for food, workouts, sleep and recovery.

When should you keep Strong?

If a log is genuinely all you want, keep it. Strong is fast, clean and reliable, with templates, history and a plate calculator, and a dedicated log will always feel marginally quicker at set entry because that is the only thing it does.

There is also no direct import from Strong into Heala. You rebuild the three or four templates you actually run, or ask the AI to write an equivalent week. The honest side-by-side is at Heala vs Strong.

What does a lifting log not see?

Food. A log cannot tell whether you ate enough protein or enough calories to progress. Sleep and recovery. The same session on four hours of sleep is a different session. The next step. A history is something you interpret yourself; a plan decides whether to add load, add reps or take a lighter week.

The levers a plan can pull are in progressive overload has five dials, and the day-to-day noise it has to ignore is in why your lifts wobble.

How does Heala log a set?

Heala takes sets the usual way, or you can say the session aloud: "squats 5x5 at 100 kg" writes the sets without opening a screen. One sentence can also write several entries at once, so a set, a meal and a night's sleep can go in together, typed or spoken, in English, Turkish and Spanish.

Food has four routes: photograph the plate, scan a barcode, say it, or pick a saved food. Estimates from a photo can be corrected before anything is saved.

What Heala adds around a lifting log, by count: domains the coach reads, ways to log a meal, and ways to log a set (tapping or saying it).

2ways to log a set: tap it or say it
Worth keeping: “Keep the log if a log is all you need. Add the plan when you want it to answer back.”

What changes when the sets feed a plan?

The sets become input to a programme rather than a history. Heala writes a training week from your goal, days and equipment, then keeps changing it from what you lift, eat and sleep. See a programme, not an answer.

How to try Heala beside Strong

1
Leave Strong untouched

Your history stays exactly where it is.

2
Rebuild your main templates

Three or four routines, or ask the AI for an equivalent week.

3
Log food and sleep too

Photo, barcode, voice or saved foods, in the same account.

4
Judge it after a fortnight

Keep whatever you still open on a bad day.

Quick answers

What is a good Strong app alternative that also tracks food?

Heala is one: it logs sets by tapping or saying them, logs meals by photo, barcode, voice or saved food, and writes your next training week from both. A dedicated log can still feel a touch quicker at set entry.

Can I import my Strong history into Heala?

There is no direct import. You can rebuild the few templates you actually run, or ask the AI to write an equivalent programme. Many people keep Strong untouched for a fortnight, so the old history stays safe while they try Heala.

Is logging a set in Heala as fast as in Strong?

Close. A dedicated log will always feel marginally quicker at tapping sets, because that is its only job. Heala closes most of the gap by letting you say the session aloud, so "squats 5x5 at 100 kg" writes the sets.

Does Heala write a programme from my logged sets?

Yes. Completed sets and the loads you moved feed a training week that progresses, deloads and moves sessions, and it also reads your food, sleep and recovery. The plan changes from what you actually lift, eat and sleep.
